Better America

A few days after a large storm in our area, I was driving down the road. The site that caught my eye, saddened me to the core. I seen numerous flags still flying, but not as glorious as they should have. Many flags were torn to shreds, some of them faded from the sun, other's nearly touching the ground. I thought to myself; what has happened to America. We once were a people that took pride in our flag. We would fly them high. There was no way American people would leave their flags out in bad weather, and you would never see a flag laying on the ground. Now times have changed. It saddens me so. Flags are faded, Are we to fading away from our past, our history?

Our Soldiers have fought and died for our freedom, the only thing we have to symbolize that is our flags. In years past American's held their head up high as our flags flew to represent our accomplishments. Now, we see our flag forgotten, left in the cold and the stormy rain. Use to when our flags became faded we would put up a new one, to show our support and our pride. Where has our pride went? I do not understand this. As a nation we should remember our past, remember what our Soldiers had died for.

America, take a look at the picture above. Do you remember? Long ago our soldiers died trying to keep the flag off the ground. When it became tattered, they would fly a new one. Why did our soliders hold up the flag so proudly? They knew what they were fighting for. They held it up to show honor and pride for Freedom, and life. Now so many of Americans are taking the flag for granite. Why? I think we need to get back to our roots. We need to renew our flags, our pride and minds. we need to replace our old flags, keep the new American pride fresh in our lives. Never forget that we live in a wounderful country, and that we are FREE. Let us show our true colors, don't let them fade or be wore by the weather. Let us walk through the storms of life victorious. Let us Raise our Flags High. We have a lot to be thankful for.
